Weathering Your Personal Winters: Finding Hope in Life's Changing Seasons

Robbin Season 2 Episode 7

Send us a text

Ever felt stuck in an emotional winter where nothing grows and everything feels cold and isolated? Or perhaps you're in a blazing summer of life where challenges burn hot and relief seems nowhere in sight. This powerful episode explores life's inevitable seasons and offers profound hope for anyone struggling through difficult times.

Robin takes us on a journey through the emotional seasons we all experience. When we're in winter—those periods of isolation, withdrawal, and emotional drought—we often forget that spring must follow. Those dark days when nothing blooms in our relationships, careers, or spiritual lives aren't permanent stops, but temporary stations on a continuing journey. The episode beautifully illustrates how spring's renewal brings fresh opportunities, new relationships, and the return of joy we might have thought was gone forever.

The wisdom doesn't stop with winter and spring. We explore summer seasons—those overwhelming periods when everything feels unbearably intense—and the promise that fall's cooling relief will eventually come. Through it all runs a powerful thread of hope: no matter how severe your current hardship, the next season is already on the horizon. Storms, hurricanes, and tornadoes in our lives never stay permanently.

Ready to shift your perspective on your current struggles? This episode offers both comfort for your present pain and hopeful anticipation for what's coming next. Remember: "Whatever season you're in in your life, know that it's not going to stay in that season." Your spring is coming. Are you ready to dress for the season ahead?

Ty Wonder:

Welcome to Robbin's Nest, the empowerment podcast with nourishment for the mind and spirit. Welcome to the Nest.

Robbin Sexton :

This is Robbin, your empowerment coach. Welcome to the Nest. As I was thinking about what we should talk about today, I was looking at the seasons and we're in winter and this has been a hard winter as far as the weather. But what about the stages of our lives? What about the stages of our lives? The sea, how the weather is cold and we have to begin. We begin to isolate, we begin to stay in because it's too cold to go anywhere.

Robbin Sexton :

Emotionally, have you gone through a winter when things have dried up, nothing is sprouting, nothing is growing, nothing is blooming? You feel isolated, you feel cold and emotionally, you're trying to get warm. Emotionally, you're trying to hold on to eat comfort foods in the natural, but emotionally, are we trying to get some nourishment that's going to warm us up emotionally In the winter, when things slow down and people are not outside and they're not smiling and happy? In the winter, when you feel like you have to be inside because it's too cold to go anyplace, what about that season in your life? It may not be winter outside, but what if it's winter in your life and things are drying up and it's cold and you need something to warm you, something to soothe you, are you reaching for the right things in this season, but knowing that winter is not going to last always and you might be in a season where everything is cold and you're by yourself and you're isolated and you feel lonely and things are not sprouting in your life. But you got to understand that spring is coming. Spring is coming when things will begin to sprout up and the weather will change and we'll begin to wear different clothing, because spring is here and there's new flowers and there's new hope and there's new livelihood and new relationships in your life. You start to travel, you begin to get out and begin to do things that you couldn't do in the winter season of your life. Now it's spring. You got to know that just because winter is here, now spring is coming, your dressing, your dresses will change. The way you dress will change. The way you operate will change. You'll be out having fun again. Things will liven up, things in your life will begin to bloom. Spring is going to come and you have to realize that during that transition time, even in the winter, sometimes spring will sprout for a couple of days and then you go back to winter. But don't get discouraged when you go back to that winter season because eventually, when spring comes forth, this next time that season will stay.

Robbin Sexton :

And then sometimes in our lives we hit summer and everything is hot. Everything is hot in your life. Everything is hot. Some things it might be unbearably hot. You're going through financial problems, everything is unbearably hot and you're having difficulty even catching a break, catching some shade. You want to catch the wind, you want to catch something that will give you some kind of comfort, something that will cool you off a little bit. And even if things are hot in your life right now, you've got to understand guess what baby? Fall is going to come. So don't get so discouraged because it's hot. You're in a hot spot financially. You might be in a hot spot in your relationships, there might be a hot time in your marriage, there might be a hot time on your job. But fall, just like every other season, is going to come. We get to fall in weather and it begins to be beautiful because the leaves are changing, things are beginning to cool off. We begin to go to the mountains and we see the beauty of the leaves and we see the beauty of the earth and how things are beginning to change. But at the same time, things are drying up because winter is going to come again.

Robbin Sexton :

Whatever season you're in in your life, know that it's not going to stay in that season. If you're having a hard season right now and things are drying up in your life, if you're having a season where everything is hot and you feel like it's unbearable and you can't catch a break, just know the next season is coming. Hold on, make sure you're ready for the next season. Make sure you're ready to dress appropriately for the next season, because the next season is going to come. Spring is on its way. Things are going to liven up. You will laugh again, you will have fun again, you will go to parties again. Your life is going to liven up again. So don't get so caught up in winter that you don't transition to the spring in your life.

Robbin Sexton :

Whatever season you're in, we know that all seasons are not easy and all seasons are not predictable. There are storms that come, there are tornadoes that come, there are seasons of hurricane, but guess what? They don't stay. That season always changes and the next season always comes. Let's get dressed and ready for our next season, because surely the next season will come, no matter what season you're in now. It feels bad, it might not feel comfortable, you might be going through hell, it might be so hot, but guess what? You're going through it On the other side. The next season will come. Let's get ready. Robin's Nest. The next season is on the horizon. This is Robin from Robin's Nest.
